As the topic states are there any black and white printer friendly maps for Lost Mine of Phandelver? I am DMing for the first time and am hopeless at drawing. I really don't mind how simple the maps are just as long as they are black and white and print easily. So I'm sure everyone's aware of the insanely popular starting adventure that comes with the 5E starter pack: Lost Mine of Phandelver. What I'm sure people AREN'T aware of, are that the maps that are available in the booklet are also available elsewhere, and in much higher quality.

A little over six months ago, my daughters asked me to run an adventure for them and their friends. The catch … they wanted it set in Exandria and the Critical Role universe. We were already playing a Tal’Dorei based campaign, but it was just the three of us. A couple of their friends expressed interest, but I didn’t want to “screw-up” our home game if their friends weren’t going to stick with it. I was also having a hard time coming up with new plot-lines as it was. Adding four more players was going to stretch me a little thin. An official adventure was the best way to go, but it was going to require some retooling.
Choosing the adventure was an easy one. I knew without even thinking that I’d choose Lost Mine of Phandelver. Short adventure? Check. Low-level characters? Check. Relatively small scope? Check. Perfect for new players? CHECK!
Creating the Guide
At first, my “guide” was just random notes. Terms to substitute on the fly and changes to backstories and lore. As the adventure progressed, my notes and contributions to the backstory became more detailed. When the adventure was done, I collected my thoughts and decided to share them. I was going to make a simple post on r/UnearthedArcana and r/CriticalRole but decided to do it right and use the Homebrewery. I already created the maps I posted earlier, I just need to put it all together. You can also use my Game Master 5 file for LMoP.
The Critical Role Conversion of Lost Mine of Phandelver can be found online at the Homebrewery link and as a PDF here.
Note: This is NOT the whole adventure. You MUST have the Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set and the included Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure to use this conversion. I highly recommend the Critical Role Tal’Dorei Campaign Guide, but it is not required.
Welcome to our Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign page. It contains mild spoilers for the campaign.
This is my first time running a D&D campaign for a group of friends. We have chosen the Starter D&D Starter Campaign Kit – the Lost Mine of Phandelver – which is designed for both new-to-game Dungeon Masters and Players alike.

Campaign Setting
The following is copied from page 3 and 4 of the Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign book.
More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the main contained great magical power…
For centuries, rumours of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers and opportunists to the area around Phandalin, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years, people have resettled the area. Phandalin is now a rough-and-tumble frontier town. More important, the Rockseeker brothers – a trio of dwarves – have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave, and they intend to reopen the mines.
Unfortunately for the Rockseekers, they are not the only ones interested in Wave Echo Cave…

Dungeon Master Tools
As this is my first time DMing but I picked up the following from The Dungeon Masters Guild website, as they looked useful:
- Encounter Management Sheet -$1
- Party Tracker Sheet -$1
I put together LPoM Player Reference Guide of the mechanics rules for the group, since they were new to game.
Also, I found:
- Printable Spell cards for Wizard and Cleric
- Vinyl Hex Mat – $5 + p&p on ebay
